This session we will work with dancers from We Migrate to bring contact improvisation into their dance performance. We'll examine fundamental principles from contact improvisation; exchange skills and assist the dancers from the We Migrate project. Suitable for those who may have attended previous sessions of Oxford Contact Dance or with some experience of contact improvisation. The We Migrate project is an artistic response to the conflict in Syria and the surrounding region, in dance and movement.

Please bring a water bottle and wear loose clothing in which you can move freely.

A dance session ('Jam') for dancing contact improvisation. We're celebrating the birthday of one of our regular dancers with a dance session (no class this week). Musicians invited to play.

Contact improvisation is a dance which originate in the 1970’s and which has now spread throughout the world. It’s often taught in university dance courses but it’s easy to learn and fun. It’s an improvised dance - a dialogue in movement - which has a fluid and dynamic form, and it’s social dancing; not stage dancing. Suitable for everyone, whatever your age, gender or dancing experience.

Please wear loose clothing for dancing which allows you to move freely. Also, bring a water bottle too. Thanks.

Dancing contact improvisation at Oxford Contact Dance on 18 Nov. 2015

A class and dance session ('jam') for contact improvisation. This session we'll concentrate on pivoting, balancing and hanging in contact improvisation. This is a drop in class, and all are welcome.

ADVANCED NOTICE: The 2 Dec. dance session is a special two hour jam (birthday jam+end of term celebration); no class. Invite everyone!

This session we'll concentrate on moving cross the floor by rolling and 'body surfing' with our partner, and practice our core contact dance skills. This is a drop in class, and all are welcome. This skillshare will 'connect-up' the forms which we learned at the last Explorium on 20 July (and you don't need to have attend that to participate in this session). We'll explore states of the body for flow and balance, and have some fun too. (The alternative name for this session is 'Dancing the school sports day'!! I'll explain later ...) No previous experience needed & all welcome. Please wear loose comfortable clothing for moving and dancing, and bring a water bottle. Cost: £5 for the session. Love to see you there.

Andrew Wood lead and facilitated this 'skillshare for dance techniques which lift and suspend us, above and around our dancing partners in contact improvisation/ contact tango. Bring yourself, your enthusiam and whatever experience you may have. None is just fine - we're improvising, and having fun!! Cost: £5 - 10 for the session depending on how many people attend.
